As our design system grows and the number of components we tokenize grows, the current workflow to apply tokens can be a bit clunky. The community has requested we explore some alternate options based on common use cases:
When managing lots of tokens and I need to add tokens to a new component, it's time consuming to find each token, select it, right click to access the property menu, then choose the attribute to apply to my design element.
Could I use a "light version" of the plugin built for speed to apply my tokens?
Being able to sort and filter tokens in a different way only solves half the problem I'm facing.
When I'm working on tokens in the plugin, I may accidentally be applying the tokens to design elements on the Figma canvas without knowing it.
Could I have a setting for "editing" where I can't apply tokens to any design elements until I am done?
I'm creating a new component that uses many of the same tokens as another, could I somehow copy and paste the tokens from one component to another instead of having to manually apply them one by one?
Reconsider the process of applying tokens to reduce the manual multi-step process we have today to speed up the process or even automate it where possible.
How does this issue impact your day-to-day workflow?
What workarounds do you have?
